Powerscreen, one of the world’s leading providers of mobile crushing and screening equipment has expanded its globally successful Premiertrak™ mobile jaw crusher product range.

The ground-breaking Powerscreen® Premiertrak™ 600 is a high performance primary jaw crushing plant which is easy to set up, versatile and engineered for quarrying, demolition and mining applications that require high production capabilities, especially in hard rock. The machine was officially launched at the Nordic Open Event held in Stockholm at the end of May and was attended by customers, dealers and press from Scandinavia and across Europe. The Open Event also featured the first preview outside of USA of the new Powerscreen® Chieftain™ 2200 incline screen which is due for launch later in 2015.

In advance of the Premiertrak 600 launch, some Powerscreen customers were given the opportunity to test the machine and to provide feedback on its usability. Ed O’Donohue from Roadstone shared his experience of operating the machine at the company’s crushing and screening sites in Ireland.

“We ran the Premiertrak 600E electric jaw crusher at a limestone quarry in Co. Meath and also used it to crush demolition concrete at a facility in Co. Dublin. When the machine first arrived, we were hugely impressed with the modern design and robust construction. For a machine in that class range at more than 70 tonnes, we expected it to be quite complicated to set up and get operational, but in fact the opposite was true. The machine was crushing within minutes of being tracked off the transport truck!

“The machine was fitted with its own on-board generator,” O’ Donohue continued, “which, when coupled with the electric drive system allowed the machine to run very quietly and extremely smoothly for that size of primary jaw.

Having a variety of application requirements, the variable jaw crusher speed on the Premiertrak 600E was of massive benefit to us. It allowed us to fine-tune the machine settings depending on the feed material and really maximise the throughput. I don’t know if we’ve ever had this level of optimisation from a jaw crusher before.

Finally O’Donohue told of Roadstone’s experience of the Premiertrak 600E in their quarry application. “In the limestone quarry, the Premiertrak 600E was using around 27 litres of fuel per hour and when all the calculations with the throughput figures were done, the overall cost per tonne was an awful lot lower than we imagined and astounding for that size of machine. When you see this machine in the flesh, it’s obvious that Powerscreen have used their years of knowledge and experience to design and engineer a machine will perform and last.”

Commenting on the launch of the new machine, Stephen McCartney, Powerscreen International Sales Director said, “We are very excited to launch our Premiertrak 600 as the most recent addition to the jaw crushing range. With the flexibility of two possible configurations of diesel-hydraulic and diesel-electric, it has a high output capability of up to 600 tonnes per hour. We are confident that the Premiertrak 600 will push the boundaries of machine efficiency in the crushing and screening industry, delivering high capacity at an attractively low cost per tonne of quality finished material.”

The diesel-hydraulic and diesel-electric variants of the Premiertrak 600 have been designed and constructed to deliver maximum production and performance with increased uptime and low running costs. The high capacity jaw is fed by a vibrating grizzly feeder with variable speed control and a large grizzly area to maximise removal of fine material enabling maximum wear life of jaw plates within the crusher chamber. The bypass chute is also fitted with wear-resistant liners as standard, and incorporates an adjustable five-position deflector plate to divert material to either the product or side conveyors.

The product conveyor and tail section of the Premiertrak 600 can be raised and lowered hydraulically, whilst the optional radio control system allows the machine operator to easily clear blockages.

The machine control system incorporates a state of the art, modern interface with intuitive graphics and high resolution display for ease of operation. This is further enhanced with the automatic start/stop functionality, excellent diagnostic capability and straightforward machine adjustments.

The speed of jaw crusher on the Premiertrak 600 can be varied to suit the application and therefore optimize performance. In addition to this, the hydraulic system has been designed and configured to increase uptime and fuel efficiency.

The Premiertrak 600E electric variant is equipped with an over-size genset sufficient to run another plant (it successfully powers the large Powerscreen® Warrior™ 2100 heavy duty scalping screen) and additionally can be powered from a mains source which substantially decreases the running costs and environmental impact.

At the heart of the Premiertrak 600, is a 1200mm x 820mm (47” x 32”) modern jaw chamber incorporating a robust construction with many user-friendly features,  such as a fully hydraulic CSS range of 75mm – 200mm, (3” – 8”) and a reversing system to clear blockages quickly for increased uptime. The aggressive stroke and high inertia flywheels ensure high production rates and excellent reduction ratios.

With speed and safety in mind, the Premiertrak 600 can be fully set up from ground level thanks to its hydraulic folding and locking hopper system. It can be adjusted to maximise productivity in any application and can be configured with an independent live pre-screen for the efficient removal of scalped materials either into a waste or a sized sub-base product.
